Apr 17, 2019

We invite you to join National Geographic Photographer Michael Yamashita for a photography tour in the heart of Hokkaido this coming August 2019. This six-day event will take place from the 19th until the 24th of August.

ITINERARY

The daily activity for this event is as follows:

Day 1: 19th of August (Monday) - Arrival/Meet and Greet at Hyatt House Niseko

Day 2: 20th of August (Tuesday) - Mt. Yotei

Mt. Yotei is a visual sister to Mount Fuji and is known locally as “Ezo-Fuji” (the heart of Japan). This spectacularly stunning active stratovolcano is located in the heart of Shikotsu-Toya National Park, Hokkaidō, Japan.

Day 3: 21st of August (Wednesday) - Mt. Usu, Lake Toya

Located just moments away from Lake Toya and a part of the Lake Toya region itself is Mt. Usu. It is a still active volcano that erupted as recently as 2000 and is as famous for its beauty as it is for boasting steamy and relaxing hot springs.

Day 4: 22nd of August (Thursday) - Shiribetsu River, Onsen

Drive and walk your way around this scenic route to enjoy the breathtaking nature of Hokkaido. You'll be rafting down the cleanest river in Hokkaido -- the Shirebetsu River, to give you a different perspective of the scenery.

Day 5: 23rd of August (Friday) - Shakotan Peninsula

Shakotan Peninsula is renowned as a bountiful fishing ground since the 19th century. This place is any fish lover's haven as it offers up a mind-blowing variety of delectable and seasonal fish, ranging from the Japanese flounder fish to abalone. Shakotan has phenomenal topography ranging from glaciers, to prairies and jagged cliffs to beautiful azure blue seas.
